When your car needs a repair, you should feel comfortable knowing the repair is going to hold and be reliable for years to come. Not all aftermarket parts are equal. Some are designed to function like the original parts but may look and perform very differently. The only way to know for sure that you are getting what you are paying for is with OEM parts, which you can purchase at any of our service centers here in Irvine Auto Center. Our dealerships will go above and beyond to help you find the exact part you need for your vehicle. Still not sure why you should buy OEM parts? Read on for more information!
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. This means the parts you are buying to replace the existing ones are all made by the manufacturer that made the vehicle. OEM parts are the only parts that are designed and engineered exactly like the originals, because they are the originals. This means the parts are not made by a third party, and that you are getting your money’s worth. OEM parts typically have better warranties, perform better, and are guaranteed to fit. While they are sometimes slightly more expensive than an aftermarket part, the quality and peace of mind you get from an OEM part is higher than that of an aftermarket in most cases.
The main difference between OEM parts and aftermarket parts is that aftermarket parts are made by a third party and do not have to follow the original specifications. They often are produced to fit multiple models and are not always a perfect fit. While they will likely work, they may also be prone to premature failure. Another form of aftermarket parts are remanufactured parts. These are parts that have been rebuilt and approved for resale. Stay away from remanufactured parts unless absolutely necessary.
Not only should you choose to use OEM parts over Aftermarket parts, you should choose a repair shop who uses OEM parts as well.
